What Is Entity-Attribute-Value in Semantic SEO?

Entity-attribute-value is the method of stating every fact as an entity, one property of that entity, and the property's value. Pages built from these triples give search engines facts that match answer templates and passages directly.

The value is the part most pages leave out. Without it, the sentence has nothing for an answer template to fill.

What are the three parts of an entity-attribute-value triple?

An entity-attribute-value triple names a thing, one property of that thing, and the value the property takes.

The entity is the thing, named by its head term. The attribute is the property, such as output, format, or pricing basis. The value is the fact: a number with a unit, a full date, a name, or a list. Together they form one statement a machine reads without interpretation.

Here is a triple from this site. Entity: Semantic Content Audit. Attribute: output. Value: a written issue map ranked by the cost of each fix. The sentence reads: the Semantic Content Audit returns a written issue map ranked by the cost of each fix.

The predicate is the verbal form of the attribute. Output becomes returns, location becomes is located in, and integration becomes integrates with. The source term vector fixes the predicate for each attribute, and every page reuses it.

What are root, rare, and unique attributes of an entity?

Root attributes belong to every member of an entity type, rare attributes belong to some members, and unique attributes belong to one.

Root attributes define membership in the type. Every dental clinic has treatments, a location, opening hours, and practitioners. A clinic page without them does not read as a clinic page. The root set is the same for every clinic, so every competitor covers it too.

Rare attributes separate members inside the type. Sedation dentistry, weekend hours, or multilingual staff apply to some clinics and not others. Buyers filter by them once the root set is satisfied.

Unique attributes belong to one member: a method, a dataset, or a guarantee no competitor offers. They carry the most weight for differentiation and the least support from other sources. Each unique claim sits with its evidence in the same block. Pages cover root attributes first, rare second, and unique last.

How does a ranked property list set attribute order for an entity type?

A ranked property list is the ordered set of attributes for an entity type, and its top attribute decides what a page shows first.

Knowledge graphs store attributes per entity type. Google's entity metrics patent weights its metrics differently for each type. Type is therefore the frame for every attribute decision, and a software product and a clinic share no property list.

The agency builds the list from the query network. Attributes users ask about most rank highest. The top attribute becomes the first section, the first column in any table, and the first field on any card. Attributes nobody asks about drop to the bottom or off the page.

Order stays the same across every entity of the type. Ten service pages list their attributes in one sequence, so readers and parsers find each property in the same place. A page that reorders the list for variety breaks the pattern the other nine set.

How does Google's answer template patent use entity-attribute-value facts?

Google's patent on generating query answers describes retrieving entity-attribute-value facts and choosing the answer template whose constraints they satisfy best.

The patent names the constraints: type, temporal, relationship, singular or plural, and unit. A template for a date needs a full date. A template for a quantity needs a number with its unit. The template with the most satisfied constraints fills its fields and becomes the answer.

The page-side lesson is to write the answer sentence in the template's shape. A question about which insurance plans a clinic accepts expects the clinic name, each plan, and the treatments covered. Every constraint the template needs is a filled value on the page.

A missing value drops the template. Contact us for details, where the template expects a fact, gives the system nothing to fill. The patent describes an answer system, not a ranking factor, and the agency builds pages that satisfy it.

How is a page written from entity-attribute-value triples?

A page is written from triples by collecting the facts first, assigning each fact to a block, and writing one sentence per triple.

The entity-attribute matrix lists the attributes each entity carries and the values to collect for each one. Values come from the business before a writer starts. A writer who finds an empty value flags it instead of filling it with an adjective.

The content brief assigns each triple to a block. Macro context above the fold holds the triples that answer the query. Micro context below holds secondary attributes and related entities. Each block holds the triples for one attribute.

Repeated attributes across several entities belong in a table. A Google patent on scoring answer passages builds candidate passages from tables and lists as well as paragraphs. The sentence directly above the table names the entities and attributes it holds. Word order inside each sentence belongs to microsemantics.

What breaks entity-attribute-value writing on a page?

Entity-attribute-value writing breaks when sentences carry adjectives instead of values, bundle several facts, or leave a value empty.

An adjective is a claim without a value. Fast delivery states nothing a machine verifies. Buyers skip it, and so does any system looking for a fact. A written report delivered as a shared document states a fact.

A compound sentence bundles two triples. Google's filing on its generative search describes linking each summary sentence to a passage that verifies it. A sentence carrying two facts matches neither summary sentence cleanly, so each fact gets its own sentence.

An empty value often hides behind vague wording. Pricing on request, flexible timelines, and many integrations each name an attribute and withhold its value. The fix is the value itself, or the attribute leaves the page until the business confirms it.

Questions about entity-attribute-value

Is entity-attribute-value the same as schema markup?
No. Schema markup carries typed values in code, and entity-attribute-value writing carries them in visible text. The two agree on every value. The visible text comes first, because markup does not define what the text leaves out.
Does entity-attribute-value writing suit opinion content?
Partly. Opinion blocks carry reasoning and experience, and they sit apart from factual blocks. Each claim inside an opinion still names the attribute it judges.
How many attributes belong on one page?
Every attribute the ranked list assigns to the page's node. The top attributes go in the macro context, and the rest go below. An attribute with its own demand and enough depth for several sections is a candidate for its own page.
Does entity-attribute-value apply to product descriptions?
Yes. Each product lists its attributes in the same order as every other product in the set. Each description also carries at least two sentences true only of that product, so the set does not read as template output.
Should attribute values carry dates?
Yes, when the value changes over time. Prices, schedules, availability, and counts state the date they apply to, next to the value. Google's filing on its generative search names freshness as one document measure.
What is the difference between an attribute and a sub-entity?
An attribute is a property with a value. A sub-entity has attributes of its own. A deliverable of a service is an attribute, and a separate service line with its own scope, buyers, and pricing basis is a sub-entity.
Does every sentence on a page need a value?
Every factual sentence does. Definitions, reasoning, and transitions carry meaning without a number, and they stay short. A factual sentence without a value is the first thing an editor cuts.
How does entity-attribute-value apply to a local service page?
The local page states its root attributes as visible text: services, address, hours, practitioners, and accepted payment or insurance. Each one is a triple with a value. A map embed and a working booking form carry the function, and the text states what they show.
Does entity-attribute-value writing work in German, Spanish, or Italian?
Yes. The triple structure holds in every language. A native editor writes the sentences, and the attribute order and values stay identical across languages.
How does an audit check entity-attribute-value coverage?
The audit lists every attribute of the central entity and checks each one for a home on the site. Attributes with no page and no section go on a gap list. The gap list becomes additions to the topical map.
Does entity-attribute-value writing make pages shorter?
Usually. Adjectives, padding, and repeated claims drop out, and each fact takes one sentence. The page ends at the last attribute worth stating.
